Michelle Obama’s hairstylist in Delhi...the excuse that it was his hair style


When Michelle Obama — possibly the world’s most heavily protected woman — comes to town this November, Sumit Israni will likely be the only person to get close to her with a pair of scissors.




The 29-year-old owner and chief stylist of Geetanjali Salons in Delhi, who is known for his unconventional approach to hairdressing, confirmed to The Sunday Express that he is scheduled to give the US First Lady a “hair do” when she visits India with her husband, President Barack Obama. Israni declined to elaborate further.



Michelle, a global style icon, is known to be experimental with her hair, shifting effortlessly from a bob for a formal occasion to a ponytail when she is roughing it out. At the White House state dinner for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last November, she had put on a “dignified updo” with minimum make-up, fashion gurus had observed at that time.



Her personal hairstylist, Johnny Wright, is a star in the US social circuit.



Israni styled US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton when she visited India in July last year. “Hillary Clinton was the least fussy client I have had,” he said. “She didn’t ask what I was going to do with her hair or what products I was using.
